Busy Beaver Woodworking began in 2022, but the story behind it goes back much further.
As a kid, Josh Broadwater’s dad encouraged him to head outside and make things instead of spending Saturdays watching cartoons. With access to his dad’s tools, Josh began building bike ramps for his friends, each one a little bigger and a little more ambitious.
When skateboarding came along, the ramps became quarter pipes and half pipes. Josh even made his own skateboard deck. It wasn’t perfect, but it sparked a passion that stayed with him.
Junior high and high school shop classes in the 1980s gave that curiosity a place to grow. A wooden fish with a marble eye, a napkin holder his mom still keeps on her kitchen table, and a tool carrier for his dad’s shoe-shine supplies became milestones along the way.
Today, that same joy in making is behind every Busy Beaver piece. From cutting boards to candle holders, Josh creates pieces with care, ready to become part of someone else’s everyday story.
