Josh Broadwater, the heart behind Busy Beaver Woodworking, discovered his love for woodworking thanks to his dad, who encouraged him to get outside and explore his creative side rather than spend Saturdays watching cartoons. With free reign over his dad's tools, Josh's imagination took off. He started with small bike ramps, building each one bigger and better so he and his friends could see who could jump the farthest or the highest.
As street skateboarding gained popularity, those bike ramps involved` into quarter pipes and half pipes for ollies, kick-flips, and other tricks. Inspired by his love of skateboarding, Josh even handcrafted his first skateboard deck. Although far from perfect, the project fueled his growing passion for woodworking.
carried through to his junior high and high school shop classes in the 1980s. In that dimly lit, dusty classroom shop, Josh tackled projects that became milestones in his journey. From his first assignment a life-size wooden fish with a marble eye that had to be meticulously cut and sanded to a napkin holder that his mom still keeps on her kitchen table, and even a wooden tool carrier for his dad's shoe-shine supplies, each creation helped him develop skills that shaped his future. These early projects solidified his love for woodworking, a passion that's now behind every handcrafted item at Busy Beaver Woodworking
